Disease Controls

 

 All fungicides available for disease controls are effective only as contact treatments. Therefore, it is crucial that they be applied prior to, or at the first sign of a fungal disease. Starting a scheduled application of fungicides on plants susceptible to mildews etc. will go a long way in preventing diseases from even starting.  Most fungicides should be applied starting June 15 in our area, and applied again every 7-10 days throughout June and July.  If your plant is already covered in mildew, these products will only serve to prevent the disease from becoming much worse.  

 
 

Serenade

This biofungicide is actually a bacteria that attacks and breaks down the cell walls of fungal spores. Controls bacterial spot, powdery mildew, rust, gray mold, leaf blight, scab and more. Lime Sulphur

Contains a calcium sulphur compound that controls fungi, as well as mites and some insects; no residual effects. Used as dormant spray or growing season spray for fungal diseases; also for scales, spider mites, rust mites, aphids and mealybugs. Phytotoxic to most actively growing plants; use growing season spray only on plants listed on label and at the correct dilution.
 
 

 
 

Garden Sulphur

Green Earth Garden Fungicide – this sulphur based product works the same as the sulphur above, but comes in a ready to use spray bottle.
 
 

 
 

Bordo Copper Spray

A wettable powder (mix with water) and spray to control leaf spot, powdery mildew, molds and blight on fruits, vegetables and ornamentals.
 
 

 
 

Safers Garden Defender

The Defender Fungicide controls and prevents black spot, rust, leaf spot, and powdery mildew.  It contains deodorized sulfur, a natural element which kills fungus. Defender Garden Fungicide can be used on fruits, flowers, vegetables, flowering plants and roses.
