Weed Treatments

In 2010, all combination “weed & feed” products were removed from the market.  Health Canada still allows the use of specific weed controls, they simply are no longer mixed with fertilizers.  Greenland recommends  following the directions on each weed control carefully to ensure maximum benefit from the product.  Greenland carries a selection of both eco friendly and chemical weed controls.

Corn Gluten

A natural pre-emergent herbicide that prevents weed seeds from germinating.  Apply in early Spring for maximum effect.  Does not affect weeds once growth has commenced.  Also provides nitrogen and a slow release fertilizer for your lawn.  Do not apply if overseeding lawn; instead apply once lawn seed has germinated.  Greenland carries Turf Revolution Grassy Gold lawn fertilizer with corn gluten.  For more information visit turfrevolution.com

Weed B Gone

This tough weed killer quickly eliminates dandelions, clover, quackgrass and more in lawns.  This mineral formulation uses high doses of iron to kill weeds – without harming the lawn.

Killex

A selective herbicide similar to Killex, however with a stronger concentration.  Kills many weeds including dandelions, clover and more.  over 50 varieties of lawn and garden weeds. The safest way to use this product is by spraying only the weeds, not as a broadcast spray. Also, do not spray on windy days.

Roundup

This non-selective herbicide is effective on almost everything green. It works by killing the top growth and roots of grasses and weeds. New! Now the formula is still effective even if it rains within a few hours. Round up is effective on the plant only and is not residual in the soil, so you can safely plant within one week of application.

Chickweed, Clover & Thistle

Kills the tough weeds in the lawn. When mixed with water it will control choking weeds such as white clover, buttercup, chickweed, thistle and more. Do not water up to 48 hrs after application and read directions thoroughly.
