Nematodes

 

Beneficial nematodes offer gardeners a chemical free option when treating a variety of garden insects. Here’s some information on the pests they treat, and how to apply them:

 


 

Grub Busters

Controls:  onion maggots, fungus gnats, cutworm, sod webworm.
 
Application:
Sprayer: place sponge into sprayer, fill with water, shake well. Attach to hose and apply.
Watering Can/Pump Sprayer: Place sponge in large bucket and fill with up to 20L of water. Mix well to disperse nematodes. Fill can or sprayer with solution and apply.


Ant Busters

Controls: Sawfly larvae, fungus gnats, ant larvae, poplar borer (and other borers), leafminer on veggies such as beets/spinach/chard
 
Application:
Sprayer: empty contents of ball into sprayer, fill with water, shake well. Attach to hose and apply.
Watering Can/Pump Sprayer: Place contents of ball ball in large bucket and fill with up to 20L of water. Mix well to disperse nematodes. Fill can or sprayer with solution and apply.
 
PLEASE NOTE:
The lawn or soil area should be thoroughly moistened prior to nematode application. Solution must be used within 2 hours of mixing. Keep soil/lawn area moist for 3 days after application.
