On July 2 & 3/16 the ARLS Martagon Show will be happening at the Devonian Botanic Garden. Anyone in the community that has an impressive stem in their garden and is willing to cut it is welcome and encouraged to come out and be an exhibitor for the show. Stems must be totally complete (all leaves, petals and anthers) and flowers should not be showing any signs of discoloring due to aging.
If someone is interested in Showing for the first time there will be ARLS members available to support with the staging and they would qualify to win the First Time Exhibitor Award. Times for staging the lilies are Friday, July 01 from 5:00-9:00 pm and then Saturday, July 02 from 8:00-10:00 am. The judging will occur from 10:00 am-1:00 pm and then the show is open to the public for viewing from 1:00-5:00 pm and then again on Sunday, July 3 from 10:00 am-5:00 pm.
Anyone coming out to view the show will have to pay admission to the Gardens, and after viewing the impressive stems in the Show, they are encouraged to visit the rest of the Devonian Botanic Gardens including the ARLS sponsored Martagon Bed in the Garden, which generally offers a breathtaking display. They can also get more information on the joy and challenges of growing Martagons in their gardens and even the benefits of being a member of the Society.
