Daylilies
One of the most popular perennials, Daylilies are a plant for all seasons. Crisp green foliage forms attractive clumps that accent any landscape whether formal or natural. The blooms in mid-summer are a huge bonus, and come in almost every colour imagineable. Below are just a few of the selections we’ll carry this year (over 100 varieties will travel through our greenhouse this season!)
Happy Ever Appster Daylilies
One of our all-time favourite daylilies is Happy Returns, known for its amazing ability to bloom for long periods. Happy Ever Appster daylilies are all selections bred from this favourite. Happy Ever Appsters® exhibit at least three blooming cycles per year, leading to the longest bloom times available. Under test conditions they have carried flowers for up to 125 days in a single year. Actual garden performance varies by climate, but 75 days of bloom should be possible even in cool summer regions. Greenland carries several Happy Ever Appster selections including one of our favourites Rosy Returns.
Trophytaker Daylilies
High standards! These have been rigorously tested by Dr. Darrell Apps of Ridgeton, New Jersey, one of the world's leading hybridizers of Daylilies. A Trophytaker® must meet or exceed standards in six important categories including hardiness, beauty, growth rate, foliage health, pest resistance and above all bloom period. While most daylilies bloom about 21 days, Trophytakers must at least double the average, meaning a minimum of 42 days of blooms. Greenland carries several Trophytaker selections including one of our favourites Woodside Rhapsody

great choice for shady spots.
‘Wayne’s World’
Baptisia
A new selection of a Greenland
favourite. Known for its long bloom period and attractive blue green foliage,
False Indigo has stiff stems that form a shrub like perennial clump. This new
selection has crisp white blooms that contrast beautifully with the purple
stems.

‘Goldcrest’ Foxglove

‘Pink Frost’ Joe Pye
This unusual form of Joe Pye makes a stunning clump with tall stalks, covered with fuzzy green leaves edged in creamy yellow. Clumps are topped with small heads of rich pink flowers in late summer. Suitable for moist areas in sun and shade.

‘Tie Dye’ Clematis
Groovy! Similar to the Jackmanii, this hardy clematis features grape purple blooms with unique white streaks. Requires full sun, for best success, plant vines 4-6” deeper than in originally planted in pot.
Ht: 8-10’ Sp: 3-4’ Zone 3
’24 Carat’ Periwinkle
Slightly less vigorous than the traditional Periwinkle, 24 Carat adds a brilliant touch to the shady garden as new growth emerges. Topped with light blue flowers in early summer, foliage will fade to a deeper green as the season progresses. Provide consistent drainage; if soil is hard packed, amend with Soil Booster or Sea Soil prior to planting.
