Mealybugs
|
|
Symptoms
- Appear on houseplants. White cottony patches are seen on undersides
of leaves, stems and leaf/stem junctions
- Clear, sticky honeydew present during severe infestations.
Controls
Cultural or Non-chemical Controls:
- Handpick small amounts or rub off with cotton swabs soaked in
alcohol
- Larger infestions can be sprayed with straight isopropyl alcohol
Chemical Controls:
- Safer's Soap or Trounce can be sprayed.

SPIDER MITES
|
|
Plants Affected
Symptoms
- Stippling - tiny dots in foliage
- Yellowing of foliage - "haze" on foliage
Controls
Cultural or Non-chemical Controls:
- Strong jet of water
- Keep plants misted
- Fall debris cleanup
Chemical Controls:
- Insecticidal Soap, miticide such as malathion, Safer's 3 in 1.
Product must state: Miticide or that it treats Mites.
